As a filmmaker, Jana Buchholz focusses on pressing social issues and intimate settings. Her radical choice of topics and esthetics have earned her acclaim across a variety of styles, including documentaries, fiction and advertising. She frequently develops new formats, teaches at film schools and leads seminars. As a trained psychologist with an additional MA in communication she enjoys facilitating live events.
She has spent half her life in France, lived and worked all over Europe, the US and Africa. She now lives in Berlin.
